The Hanteng Automotive Research Institute is comprised of 16 departments and possesses eight core R&D strengths, including car manufacturing platform planning, model design, data design, performance development, concurrent engineering and NEV development. It has already grasped the development of core technologies, including EV and plug-in hybrid technologies.


Hanteng Autos has a R&D staff of around 1,000 professionals, including numerous first-class specialists from GM, Chrysler and domestic automakers.


It has established a vehicle performance & emissions laboratory, vehicle safety laboratory and automobile modeling laboratory in co-operation with the China Automotive Technology & Research Center, as well as an additional seven laboratories dedicated to transmission, hybrid drive, engines, electric motor, environment and material, battery, and HIL in co-operation with Tsinghua University. These state-of-the-art, world-class laboratories are equipped to perform various experiments and tests in their respective areas.


World-class Automotive Specialists

  • Lin Jian

    The first scientist in Shangrao to be included in China’s “Thousand Talents Program”, Dr. Lin Jian is the head of Hanteng Autos’ BMS program. He is a world-renowned NEV battery management systems expert, and the holder of more than 20 invention patents registered in the U.S. He was once recognized as the “Most Valuable Employee” at General Motors.

  • Walter Zhou

    As the President of both the North American Chinese Society of Automotive Engineers (NACSAE) and the China branch of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Dr. Walter Zhou is a world-renowned torque converter and automotive transmission expert. He currently serves as the head of Hanteng Autos’ Extended-range EV Programme.

  • Zhao Yumin

    Zhao Yumin is the Chief Engineer of the hybrid vehicle platform at Hanteng Autos. As a returning scholar from the United States with years of ample experience in the development of engine management systems, he is one of China’s leading automotive power systems experts. He also led the development of the first engine management system (EMS) in China.
